PLEASE NOTE: students must own Adobe software to complete the course. (NOT Photoshop Elements)

In this class, students will learn the basics of Graphic Design, and have a taste at the working world of Design by creating their own designs for imaginary clients. Each class, I will demonstrate where different tools are located within Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop software and Canva App, how to use them, and discuss some basic Graphic Design theory.

We will learn and practice different types of graphic design. As we design, we will talk about complementary colors, building a color scheme, white space, complementary fonts, iterations and lots more! I will also be working 1-on-1 with students as they learn. Students will develop excellent design thinking skills that will serve them well in school and college and with extracurriculars. They will learn how to present and speak articulately about their work. 

 

Students will also have a design project to complete independently throughout the course, and will receive feedback on their final submission. Students are expected to share their work with each other, and comment on the design ideas of other students. It is important for students to engage with this part of the course, in order to develop their design skills.
